The best SSD drives of 2021

Solid state drives are present in almost all tablets and smartphones manufactured today due to their small size and high performance capacity. These same qualities can be very useful on a computer or laptop.

In fact, these features are what differentiate them from traditional hard drives. It is also the case of speed, which greatly improves the user experience, whether it is when opening an application, browsing or copying a file.

In this article, you will finding a list of what are, to our knowledge, the best SDD drives on the market today. In it, we have included the best performing models, but also cheaper ones that offer good value for money.

In addition to buying a new SDD, you may be looking to change computers. You can check which are the best laptops of this year or, if you prefer, the best budget laptops.

Comparison: What is the best SSD drive of 2021?

1. Corsair Force Series MP510 - Best SSD

·        From £ 69.99 | Model reviewed £ 142.99

Corsair's Force Series MP510 SSD has it all: performance, endurance, capacity, and value. It outperforms any other SATA SSD and of course SATA M.2 drives. It is a good time to get one.

This solid state drive is available in various capacities: 240GB, 480GB, 960GB, and 1920GB. Each of the models, logically, will have a different price, which currently ranges between € 79.99 and € 499.99.

If you are not used to NVMe drives, you will immediately notice how fast this one from Corsair goes. The 960GB model has a 3,400MB / s read speed and an impressive 3,000MB / s write speed.

This SSD drive is certainly a very good value for money. It costs little more than a SATA SSD and instead runs twice as fast. Normally we would not recommend the 240GB model but this case is an exception.

2. Kingston KC2500 - The best value for money 2TB SSD

·        From £ 70.27

Considering how little the hardware has changed  , Kingston has done almost a miracle with the performance of the KC2500 , a marvel.

Although on paper the specifications are the same as its predecessor, the KC2500 improves on read and write speeds largely due to  hardware and software .

If you are looking for an NVMe SSD to upgrade or build your rig, then this is one of the best ways to get high performance at a good price.

3. WD Blue SN550 - Best value for money

·        From £ 44.67

Western Design has done a good job of designing an SSD that reduces functionality to a minimum to achieve an affordable device for most PC users who need to upgrade their computer at the best price.

That means, however, that with the WD Blue SN550 you will not have the highest speed or hardware encryption , but it is still faster than any SATA drive. It is the best option if you want to go to the NVMe world without spending a lot.

We would like WD to have a 2TB model, as it is always better to go for large capacities, but we continue to recommend the Blue SN550 to our readers. In this case, it is available in 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB.

4. Crucial MX500 - Best SATA Drive

·        From £ 44.99 | Model reviewed £ 49.98

If you are not thinking of using your computer to edit 4K quality videos on a daily basis or need a 4 TB capacity drive, then the Crucial MX500 SSD is ideal for you, especially for its near perfect value for money.

In this sense, this solid state drive is intended for those users who are used to traditional HDDs or even the first generation of SSDs, but who are now thinking of putting a faster drive in their system.

In the event that you can afford it, we recommend betting on one of its with greater storage capacity. Thus, you will not only gain space, but the useful life of the device will also be longer and you will be able to continue using it for longer.

5. Samsung SSD 970 Evo Plus - Better PCIe 3.0 performance

 ·        From £ 83.99

We have been positively surprised that Samsung has opted for a new SSD of these characteristics. The 970 Evo Plus SSD is an improved version of the 970 EVO but it comes out for almost the same price.

It is especially recommended for those who are interested in a powerful Non-Volative Memory Express, although as a disadvantage it has the fact that, with similar characteristics, the Corsair MP510 is still cheaper.

Comparing the 970 EVO also from Samsung with this Plus model , the latest SSD clearly outperforms the first in some processes and also offers better power management and does not heat up so easily.

Although the model with a capacity of 250 GB is excellent, we recommend going for the versions of 500 GB or more to fully take advantage of all the advantages that the Samsung SSD 970 Evo Plus has.
